Scottish Rugby is pleased to announce that it has appointed Robert Howat to the new role of General Counsel, and that he will take up the position early in the New Year. Mr Howat will oversee the Legal and Governance department at Murrayfield.
Mr Howat will be stepping down as Company Secretary to Celtic Football Club, a position he has held for the last 11 years.

"His experience in legal, regulatory and commercial issues associated with sport in Scotland and further afield will be of great benefit to us as we continue to build a strong and successful future for Scottish Rugby.”
Peter Lawwell, Celtic FC Chief Executive, commented: “Robert has been with us for over 11 years and is a highly regarded member of our executive team and adviser to the Board. He has done a great deal over that time to help protect and develop the interests of Celtic Football Club.
