Glasgow Warriors players and coaches have been spreading some festive cheer, spending a day at Yorkhill Children's Hospital putting up Christmas decorations alongside more than 100 other volunteers.
Scott Wight, Alex Dunbar, DTH Van Der Merwe, Josh Strauss, Peter Murchie, Moray Low, Mike Cusack, Finlay Gillies, Pat Macarthur, Ed Kalman, Dougie Hall, captain Alastair Kellock and head coach Gregor Townsend helped to transform the wards of the hospital into a festive winter wonderland.
Working in shifts throughout the day the players found that they had many willing helpers in the outpatients unit, as their presence caused a stir amongst the wards.
To celebrate the hard work and effort put in by the volunteers, the day concluded with a small Christmas party around the large Christmas tree, where Ayr Academy Choir sang Christmas carols, and hospital radio station, Radio Lollipop played music requested by patients at Yorkhill.
Joined by Peppa Pig, Yorkhill Children's Foundation mascot Kami Bear, and Santa Claus himself, Warriors captain Al Kellock and head coach Gregor Townsend switched on the Christmas lights, bringing the day to a festive close.
Since it began in 2001 the Yorkhill Children's Foundation has worked tirelessly to raise money to purchase new state of the art medical equipment, improve the facilities at the hospital for children and their families, and this year they want to give sick children at the hospital the best Christmas possible.
Gregor said 'the players have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this huge effort to decorate the whole hospital for Christmas and it was a real privilege to switch on the lights with Al."
