1872 Cup Just Over A Week Away

Tickets for the Warriors" 1872 Cup derby against Edinburgh Rugby on Friday 21 December are selling very quickly._ Hundreds of tickets have sold over the weekend following the announcement that the capacity of Scotstoun Stadium will be extended to include a covered, seated stand at the west end.

There are now fewer than 2,000 tickets available for this match, and supporters are urged to book online or phone 0844 800 3490 as soon as possible to secure their tickets.

The 1872 Cup matches between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby are the most anticipated matches of the season by supporters and players alike. The games are fiery occasions, full of passion and pride with the players putting everything on the line to earn the bragging rights as the best in Scotland. Warriors fans have been making plans for the Edinburgh game since the first open days were held at Scotstoun over the summer.

Last year's 1872 Cup started with a thrilling 23 all draw at Murrayfield with lock Al Kellock, winger Colin Shaw and stand-off Ruaridh Jackson scoring tries to come from behind to match Edinburgh's early lead.

The Cup's destination was decided in front of a sellout crowd at Firhill, by prop Moray Low's try that sealed a third straight 1872 Cup success for the Warriors. More than 22,000 spectators attended the two matches last year, and ticket sales are now on course for another sellout in Glasgow for the first leg.

With the schools off and many people finishing up at work for Christmas that day (Friday 21 December), why not bring the whole family down to Scotstoun and start your holidays at the derby. Families looking to bring young children, in particular, are urged to book early to secure seats in the stands at Scotstoun. There are still some seats available in the Main and North Stands, and the new temporary stand at the West end will also provide seats, under cover and ideal for families.

There will also be standing under cover in the East terrace for those supporters looking to celebrate the start of the Christmas holidays with friends and colleagues. The terrace had a boisterous atmosphere for the match against Ulster last month, and we expect another great Glasgow atmosphere for the visit of Edinburgh Rugby.

After the match, supporters will be invited into The Clubhouse for refreshments, to gain insight from Glasgow Warriors coaches, and enjoy live music courtesy of The Full Bhoona. ""_Book online or phone 0844 800 3490 as soon as possible to secure your tickets before they are sold out.
