Back-row forwards David Denton and Johnnie Beattie will play a limited part during this afternoon’s open Scotland training session at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.
Denton (knee) and Beattie (wrist) reported to the training camp with injuries sustained on club duty.
Scotland team doctor James Robson said: “Both are progressing in their recovery and will be subject to further assessment this week with a view to being available for consideration for our opening RBS 6 Nations Championship match against England a week on Saturday.”
Edinburgh Rugby’s lock Grant Gilchrist is subject to further review by the Scotland medical team today after spraining his ankle in his club’s Heineken Cup match against Saracens on Sunday, while his team-mate Tim Visser is receiving treatment for a foot injury. Glasgow Warriors’ Ruaridh Jackson and Sean Lamont are both recovering from rib discomfort and hooker Pat MacArthur from an ankle sprain, while their back-row colleague, Chris Fusaro, is continuing his rehabilitation running after a groin problem. All six are expected to play some part in training today.
The training session will take place as scheduled on the main pitch at Scotstoun Stadium from 2pm today (Tuesday 22 January) and is open to the public. It’s expected to conclude around 3.30pm when players will be available for autographs and photographs.
