Squad Embark On Day-Long Blitz

While the nation's gaze turned to the international arena, the Edinburgh Rugby squad set out on their latest '#ERBlitz', offering their advice and specialist coaching to youngsters across the region.

The event, one of a number organised by the club to give back to local clubs and schools, saw the squad travel to six rugby clubs across the capital and east of Scotland.

The sessions took place throughout the day at clubs and schools, details of which can be found at the bottom of this page.

The events allowed the next generation to get up close with the playing squad and develop their skills with training and position-specific advice, as well as gather support for the upcoming RaboDirect PRO12 clash with Cardiff Blues at Murrayfield (Friday 15 February).

Many of the fans' favourites were out and about on the Blitz day, including Fiji number eight Netani Talei, Scotland internationalists Ross Rennie and Nick De Luca, as well as everyone's favourite prop, Allan "Chunk" Jacobsen.

However, none of the twelve players involved on representative duty (Scotland, Scotland "A" and U20s) this weekend were involved.

Today's events follow on from superbly-received "Blitz" evenings earlier in the season, as well as forwards coach Neil Back's coaching exploits with Murrayfield Wanderers RFC, where he assisted their under-18s with their lineout.

Doc McKelvey, Edinburgh Rugby's development manager, said:_ 'the feedback from the clubs for the ER Blitz nights has been tremendous, the youngsters love meeting the Edinburgh Rugby players on their own patch and learning some tips."

As well as specialist coaching from the players, there were fun and games involved for those at each of the six venues.
