Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg today reminded the capacity crowd at Twickenham of the talent that exploded onto the international rugby stage during last year’s RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Glasgow Warrior Hogg, 20, has played in every Scotland match since his debut off the bench against Wales last year and today was his 11th cap. But, by his own admission, Hogg needed to rediscover the elan that had marked his early contributions.
He marked the Calcutta Cup match with a try, his second for Scotland, some prodigious punting and restored his reputation as one of the most exciting youngsters to emerge from the Scottish Borders since Jim Renwick.
Scotland interim head coach Scott Johnson was full of praise.
That was Stuart’s best game in Scotland colours. I thought he did wonderfully well. It shows what a great talent he is.
You can hear Hogg’s verdict on his contribution to the 18-38 loss to England and his thoughts on the challenge Italy face at Murrayfield on Saturday, below.
