U16S Compete For Capital Honours

The top under-16 players from Edinburgh and the Borders will go head-to-head on the back pitches of Murrayfield Stadium this Wednesday (KO 7.30pm) to compete for the honour of representing Edinburgh Rugby in an age-grade clash with their Glasgow Warriors counterparts the following week.

The back pitches will also host the Glasgow v Caledonia clash (KO 6pm), from which the Glasgow Warriors side will be selected.

The games are part of a revised performance pathway for the nation's top young players, which sees the two professional clubs fielding sides at under-16, 17 and 18 in an annual series of inter-city fixtures as part of the national selection process.

Edinburgh Rugby's U18s have already stolen a march on the Warriors, with a 15-5 win in the wind and rain last Wednesday.

The attention now turns to the under-16s, who must first compete for place in the derby this Wednesday, before taking to the field in the black and red the following week.
