With exactly 100 days to go until Rugby World Cup Sevens kicks off at the iconic Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the match schedule has been announced, revealing some mouth-watering encounters for the thousands of spectators in the ground and millions more in the global TV audience to enjoy.
The teams have entered the closing stages as regards their preparations for the tournament with Wales’ men and Australia’s women gearing up to defend the titles they won in Dubai four years ago.
There will be a number of thrilling matches on the first two days (28-29 June) of the competition with Scotland 7s ending day one’s games against Japan at 7.36pm (local-time). They will then conclude their pool matches on day two against hosts Russia at 1.02pm and South Africa at 7.16pm (both local-time).
The tournament will come to a pulsating finish on day three (30 June) with the knockout stages ensuring that every match is absolutely crucial.
Scotland 7s head coach, Stephen Gemmell, said: “Our focus is all about competing in Hong Kong this weekend, but there is certainly excitement building in the squad ahead of the Rugby World Cup 7s.
“Every tournament we compete in between now and then is vital not only to our position in the World Series but also to our preparations, for June where we will be up against the best 7s teams in the world."
Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset hailed the event. He said: "The teams know that these 100 days will fly by very quickly and so they are all busy making their final preparations for the tournament. Judging by the schedule, we are in for a treat of world-class rugby sevens on each of the three days of competition.”

Scotland are hosting the penultimate leg of the circuit, for a second year, at The Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, which will take place at Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May 2013.
