Aberdeenshire were presented with the RBS Caledonia Regional League Division 1 title at Woodside at the weekend and are now looking to crown their season with a trip to Murrayfield on RBS Finals Day.
The semi-final takes place this weekend against another free-scoring side, RBS West Regional League Division 1 champions, Marr, with both clubs eyeing a place at the national stadium on Saturday 20 April.
Aberdeenshire, coached by Eric Strachan and Rob Currie, cite a balanced approach as a key factor to their success so far this season. "In the past we were very much forward orientated but it's been much more balanced this season. We've scored 63 tries through the forwards and 59 through the backs," said Strachan.
"This season has really been a culmination of the last two-to-three seasons' work, where there's been an emphasis on getting fitness levels up across the board, and it's come to fruition."
The average age of the club's first XV is around 24 and many of the side have graduated from the club's own Colts team.
Strachan added: "The club always had an eye on the league title but for the coaches and the players the icing on the cake would be if we can get to Murrayfield for the RBS Shield Final."
