Hamilton 29 Peebles Colts 22
Hamilton won a closely-fought and entertaining under-18 Youth League Bowl final on the back pitches at Murrayfield tonight.
Their left-winger, the powerfully built Aaron Partridge, notched a hat-trick of tries, opening the scoring and adding a second-half brace. What was most encouraging to see was that he was prepared to take players on via his pace on an outside break, most evident in his second try.
Partridge was a deserved winner of the Player of the Match award from Scotland internationalist Sean Lamont.
Peebles, who had fought back to level 12 all at half-time, through tries by their captain Richard Harrison and centre Cameron Pye, one converted by Murray Brown, frequently had to chase the game in the second period.
Hamilton’s other tries came from Craig Skilling and Nicholas Stannage with scrum-half Liam Bell landing two conversions.
Peebles’ second-half tries came from Kieran Clyde and Scott Halliday.
