Stirling County Colts made it three under-18 National Youth League Cup titles from three tonight at Murrayfield Stadium.
They beat Borderers, Gala Wanderers, 29-5 in a thrilling encounter.
Head coach, Mallin Brown, said: “We played well in the first half and defended well in the second-half. We let ourselves down at times with poor discipline.
“However, we worked very hard and came away with the win, but Gala were a very good side and never backed down.”
Stirling County have won the title in 2011, 2012 and now 2013, and tonight it was flanker, Gregor Anderson, hooker Stuart Govan, full-back Ross Brooks, prop Adam Wood and lock Angus Leishman who made it possible, all scoring tries. Stand-off Ruaridh Bottomley also scored two conversions.
The man-of-the-match tonight was Stirling County lock, Matthew Smith.
Gala stuck-in well throughout the game, particularly in the second-half and at times it looked as though they could have put more points on the board. However, stand-off Ruairi Howarth was the only player to cross the whitewash.
