Supporters heading for all the excitement of the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s at Scotstoun Stadium next month will once again be able to enjoy free transport from and back to Glasgow city centre.
After the success of the shuttle service at last year’s tournament, Scottish Rugby and Glasgow Life have worked hard to deliver the free service once again between Buchanan Street Bus Station, the Partick Interchange and Scotstoun Stadium.
Scottish Rugby’s director of commercial operations, communications and public affairs, Dominic McKay, said: “With 30,000 people expected to attend the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s on May 4 and 5 we’re delighted to be able to give them something back with the free shuttle bus service.
“It was a huge success last year and makes getting to Scotstoun from Glasgow city centre fast and easy.
“Tickets are selling really well and we don’t want anyone to be disappointed on the day so I’d encourage all sports fans in Glasgow to get their tickets early and we’ll see you in Scotsoun in May.”
Services from Buchanan Street Bus Station and Partick Interchange will run at least every 15 minutes between 8am and 4pm and more regularly at peak times.
To ensure the quick departure of supporters at the end of each day 34 double decker buses will shuttle fans to both Buchanan Street Bus Station and Partick Interchange. These services will operate in two cycles.
As well as the dedicated shuttle bus, a park and walk scheme will also be available, at a cost of £2. The park and walk site will be in an official stewarded area within a 20-minute walk of the venue, although spaces will be limited.
The site at the GTG Training Centre on South Street will have a capacity for around 500 cars. Ticket holders must pre-book their parking space and will not be able to drive up and park on the day. There will be further coach parking spaces for supporters’ buses at South Street.
Tickets for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s tournament, the eighth leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series, are on sale now from £15 per day. All concessions are at half the equivalent adult price. Tickets will be sold for particular stands and designated days, with two-day ‘weekend’ tickets also available. Buy your tickets now.
Tickets can also be purchased at Scotstoun Stadium and Scotstoun Leisure Centre and the SECC near Glasgow’s city centre or through their booking site www.ticketsoup.com.
