Clubs benefit from Sportsman’s Charity support

Five clubs across Scotland have benefited from the support of a Scottish sports charity.

Sportsman's Charity supportSome £2333.33 has been distributed by The Sportsman’s Charity, to Crieff and Strathearn; Argyll and Bute; Clydebank and Helensburgh and Greenock Wanderers to help them fund their club development officers (DOs), who are employed to help to promote and grow the game in their surrounding areas.

The respective club DOs are Stuart Guntley, Allan Wright, Sean McNee and Brendan McGroarty.

Scottish Rugby ambassador and Sportsman’s Charity board member, Chris Paterson, said: “It’s great to hear of this support for the game of rugby in communities in both industrial and rural Scotland.

“One of the charity’s main aims is to support sport in any way, so I’m pleased to see the funds go to such a worthy cause in my sport.”

Scottish Rugby’s head of clubs and schools, Nick Rennie, said: “We greatly appreciate the assistance The Sportsman’s Charity has provided to five of our clubs who do invaluable development work in growing the game in their clubs, local schools and communities.”
