Scots share skills with young Spaniards in festival frenzy

The Scots were a big hit at a junior rugby festival in central Madrid today as members of the women's squad, competing at the FIRA WRWC 2014 qualifier, helped coach and play alongside dozens of youngsters this afternoon (25 April).

Hooker Lindsey Smith, prop Heather Lockhart and stand-off Lisa Martin, along with head coach Karen Findlay and assistant coach Scott Forrest joined in the tag festival for secondary school-age boys and girls, posing for photos with and chatting to the players.

Organised by the Spanish rugby union in conjunction with FIRA, the event aimed to underline the legacy of the tournament being held in the Spanish capital and to encourage the enthusiastic youngsters to hone their silky skills. Lisa Martin said:

"It was a great experience - there's some great talent out here amongst the kids and it's good to be able to give something back to Spain for holding this tournament.

"Hopefully the kids will stick to it, keep playing rugby and maybe we've even played against a few internationalists out there."
