Glasgow Warriors fans’ favourite, Niko Matawalu caught up with www.scottishrugby.org ahead of the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s to talk about sevens rugby, the weekend’s tournament and the brilliance of the Fijians.
He said: “It’ll be a very exciting tournament where awesome big teams will come, like Australia and New Zealand, and it’ll be the best tournament for families to come and watch.
“Glasgow is one of the main tournaments of the series because teams are usually fighting for places.
“Fijians can do many things in rugby, unbelievable things and there are a lot of good players who will play for them this week. There will be a lot of good action.
“We [Glasgow Warriors] are planning on coming to the sevens after the Connacht game for a parade round the stadium on Saturday lunch time.”
On day one (4 May) Scotland 7s will play Portugal (1.04pm), England (4.10pm) and New Zealand (7.21pm) with their day two fixtures determined by these results.
Fiji face Spain (10.52am), Argentina (1.58pm) and Australia (6.15pm) in group C on Saturday.
