South Africa hoping for top Glasgow experience

With the majority of the 16 teams now in camp for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, www.scottishrugby.org have caught up with South African head coach, Paul Treu.

For a number of Treu’s players it is the first time they have come to Glasgow and currently sitting second in the leader board, 32 points behind New Zealand, it’s a massive tournament for them.

He said: “We’re coming into the Glasgow tournament with a lot of confidence after winning the Cup in Tokyo. It’s always tough to come and play here but we’re hoping for an exciting finish to our season. We want to go all the way and win this weekend.

“It will be tough to catch New Zealand at the top of the HSBC Sevens World Series leader board, but the circuit has become so tough with so many different winners, you just can’t tell what will happen, but we’re aiming to finish as high as possible.

“Not many of the players have been here before, but we want to give our boys a good experience in Scotland. We hope to leave Glasgow a very happy team.”

With the HSBC Sevens World Series being a major international event, some 32 broadcasters will be carrying footage of the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s from across the globe.
