Edinburgh Rugby today announced a new broadcast service that will bring fans closer to the club than ever before.
The streaming platform ‘Edinburgh Rugby Live’ has been built into the homepage of the club’s recently revamped website, www.edinburghrugby.org, which can be activated to engage fans with exclusive screenings.
Behind-the-scenes access to the team and in the ground on match-day will become prominent features of the new service, while fans can use the neighbouring Twitter function on the club’s website to ask their own questions in live interviews [see below graphic].
Kicking off the interactive aspect of the new platform is managing director, David Davies, who will be live on the website this Monday (27 May) at 6.30pm.
He said: “Edinburgh Rugby Live is a fantastic addition to the way in which we engage with supporters and is a recognition of the growing success of our social media platforms.
It will enhance our interaction through Twitter and help us connect with thousands of fans, in real time, whether we’re home or away."
“With around 40% of supporters now accessing the website on mobile devices, the live streaming has the potential to add a really exciting element to the whole Murrayfield match-day experience, while the interactive Q&As will allow us to introduce our players directly to our fans, while also tackling their most important questions.”
Davies will field questions tweeted in to @edinburghrugby using hashtag #AsktheMD this Monday (27 May) at 6.30pm.
The club will re-tweet the questions being answered so they appear as a running commentary alongside the live interview, with fans encouraged to get their questions in early to have the best chance of hearing them answered.
Those not signed up to Twitter are encouraged to do so in order to get the most out of the live service, while fans are also welcome to submit questions by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
