Dalziel opts to hand this year’s captaincy to full-back Fraser Thomson, who returns after a year with Glasgow Warriors. Bruce Colvine and Graeme Dodds as his vice-captains will support him.
Joining the club for the first time, Scotland under-20 winger Damien Hoyland joins-up from Boroughmuir; 20-year-old, utility back Austin Lockington joins from the Western Province Rugby Institute in Stellenbosch; Hartpury College lock James Head moves north of the Border; Todd Pearce a hooker from Sydney comes into the fold and scrum-half Tom Wilson also returns to the side after a year with Kelso.
Furthermore, prop Nick Beavon returns from injury for the new season and scrum-half Scott McCormick moves back to Peebles.
Melrose have also appointed Eugene Murnane, former Kelso head coach and former Scotland prop, Gavin Kerr as their second XV (Melrose Storm) coaches.
