Edinburgh Rugby players will turn out in black and red hoops for the first time in club’s history with this season’s playing kit, branded ‘old town, new look’.
Repositioning the club’s celebrated black and red colours into a more traditional home kit, and returning to white tops for playing away, the new strips reflect the back-to-basics approach being adopted by the Murrayfield club.
The logo of main sponsor BT Sport takes its place on the front of the new shirt in the first of four years committed to supporting the club.
Technical features include mesh inserts on the flank, to allow the players to breath under maximum intensity, and a silicon elastic band around the bottom hem, to grip the shorts and make it more difficult for opponents to snag and stretch the top.
Replica shirts are available as a standard fit of the players’ performance top while traditional cotton with collar supporters’ shirt has been added to the leisurewear range.
Edinburgh Rugby centre, Matt Scott, said: "I really like the new kit. It's a bold design and I think is well suited to the graft and grit that’s been put in over pre-season.
It’s honest and hard working and that’s what we, as players, want to deliver for our supporters on the pitch this season."
Macron CEO, Gianluca Pavanello, said: “Once again Macron have succeeded in creating a unique and tailor-made product that will surely be appreciated by Edinburgh Rugby’s players and by its thousands of fans, who I’m sure will be proud to wear this great jersey for the next exciting season.”
Edinburgh Rugby are taking advanced orders at the Scottish Rugby store in person and on the phone (0131 346 5044), with the expected to be available early in September.
