Edinburgh and St Andrews universities rugby teams will look to tap into their alumni in London this weekend when they meet at London Scottish’s home ground on Saturday (28 September).
Some 40,000 alumni from the two universities are based in the city and since the world’s oldest inter-university fixture moved south three years ago, it has proved to be a big hit.
Edinburgh University are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten their opponents both years in London so far. Saturday’s match will kick-off at 6pm.
Representatives from both sides and Scottish Rugby’s vice-president, Ian Rankin, gathered at the Sherlock Holmes statue in Picardy Place, Edinburgh this afternoon, tipping their hat to the author Arthur Conan Doyle who had represented the Edinburgh University side in his time as a student.
