George Watson’s College have booked their place in the Brewin Dolphin under-18 Cup final on Wednesday 27 November at Murrayfield (kick-off 7.45pm).
The capital school beat Strathallan School in today’s semi-final at Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy, 35-12. This means the defending champions will now meet the High School of Dundee in the final.
George Watson’s scored five tries in an exciting and competitive game, to Strahallan’s two. The winning scorers were scrum-half Fraser McMillan, full-back Connor Davidson and No. 8 Ali Miller in the first-half.
In the second period up and coming winger Ben Robbins and replacement back Jamie Cousin crossed the whitewash. Stand-off Calum Young added two conversions and two penalties.
For Strathallan prop Murray McCallum showed his power with two bulldozing tries in the second-half. Stand-off Josh Henderson converted one try. George Watson’s College head coach, Ally Donaldson, said:
“We set out our intent from the start by the manner we attacked in this game and we’re delighted to have won.
“We knew that our opponents would come back in the second period because they are a quality side. However we did manage to weather the storm and hold out for the victory.
