The October RBS Try of the Month has been won by Linlithgow prop, Adam Kelly.
The winning touchdown this month was given the nod by Scotland defence coach, Matt Taylor, and was scored in Linlithgow’s home victory against (25-12) Portobello on Saturday 26 October in RBS East Regional League Division 1.
The try is a good example of drawing the defender and creating an overlap that in turn sees Kelly, 24, running the support line and receiving the offload, before touching down in the corner.
The freelance landscape gardener said: “I was quite surprised to win the trophy because I didn’t know I was up for it, but I’m really pleased. I didn’t do a huge amount for the score; it was more of a team try that I finished off.
“We’ve recently got a new coach so we’re slowly coming together and are now pushing to reach at least third in the league.”
Linlithgow currently sit fifth in the table three points behind North Berwick in third place.
Kelly and Dale Lyon (who submitted the winning try footage) will each receive two tickets to the Scotland v England RBS 6 Nations game next February courtesy of RBS, Scottish Rugby’s principal partner.
The scorer of November’s RBS Try of the Month and the person who submits the footage will each receive two tickets to Scotland v France in the same tournament.
