Scotland have been forced to make a change to their pack for Saturday’s viagogo Autumn Test against Australia at Murrayfield.
Tim Swinson, the Glasgow Warriors lock, aggravated a chest injury sustained originally against Japan during training yesterday afternoon and has returned to the care of his club’s medical team.
Grant Gilchrist (pictured above), the 23-year-old Edinburgh Rugby lock, steps up to the starting team in place of Swinson. Gilchrist will be winning his fourth cap.
Gilchrist’s place on the bench will be taken by the man who followed him as the John MacPhail scholar, honing his talents in Canterbury, New Zealand, the 19-year-old Glasgow Warriors lock Jonny Gray, who won his first cap against South Africa last week.
The Scotland back division and substitutes will be finalised later this afternoon as the management run the rule over Tommy Seymour, the Glasgow Warriors winger, who sustained a leg knock against South Africa.
Tickets are still available for Saturday’s match from this website; via the 24 hour credit card hotline 0844 335 3933; or in person from the Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre at Murrayfield, which is open from 9am-8pm until Friday.
