A day at Murrayfield has much more to offer other than the excitement of the game, it’s now an all-day event for all members of the family to enjoy.
This is helped greatly by the varied visual and accompanying musical entertainment on display prior to the kick-off. From the spine tingling sound of the massed pipes and drums to the carnival vibes of samba, Murrayfield has it all.
The festival atmosphere will come alive with the sounds of Sambalistic around the stadium perimeter. They will be accompanied by the dazzling Acro Balance, face painters, balloon modellers and stilt walkers.
Red Hot Chilli Pipers are also welcomed back to Murrayfield to give a contemporary slant on the classic sound of the massed pipes and drums.
In the North Car park, The White Band, will be on hand bringing a wide range of your favourite pop and rock tunes, from beloved classics to contemporary anthems.
In the bowl before kick-off, joining the traditional massed pipes, will be a feast of eye-catching, attention-grabbing lightshows and fireworks. The players will enter the ground ready to commence battle under a Batman style spotlight, with all the stadium’s floodlights being dimmed, building an eerie yet electric atmosphere. If that wasn’t enough to draw your attention to the pitch, the end of the national anthems will be marked with the fire of a 105mm light gun by the 105 Royal Artillery.
They will be joined on the pitch by the Royal Air Force cadets from ATC squadrons from Edinburgh and Glasgow - led by Cadet Warrant Officer Michael Selalmas and Cadet Emilie Bone of 2463 squadron - who will be the National Standard bearers.
Murrayfield regulars, Whitburn Brass Band, will be leading the Australian national anthem from the pitch.
Claire Harkness, Events Manager for Scottish Rugby, said: “Here at Murrayfield, we’re looking to be the pioneers of matchday entertainment.
“We want everyone who comes to a game to know they have arrived at the home of Scottish Rugby and embrace the fun, engaging and exciting atmosphere that the ground offers.
“The highlight of this weekend’s match entertainment line-up will undoubtedly be the light and pyrotechnic show prior to kick off. This creates a huge anticipation for the forthcoming match as well as reinforces the amazing atmosphere that the fantastic Murrayfield crowd provide.”
