League winners span the country

This season's RBS National League winners, Boroughmuir

A magnificent seven teams have cemented their position as champions of their respective RBS leagues for season 2013/14.

In the RBS National League, Boroughmuir, have been crowned as champions, in turn regaining their spot in the RBS Premiership after being relegated the previous season.

Having won 15 of their 17 games, securing 13 bonus points in the process, Boroughmuir sit 11 points ahead of current second place Stewart’s Melville FP with one round of league ties still left to play.

Boroughmuir head coach, Bruce Aitchison said: “We’re delighted that we’ve won the league and will be heading back up to the Premiership next year.

“What’s been most pleasing throughout the season is our consistency. We’ve adapted ourselves to the challenges which we’ve faced, sometimes grinding out victories, but we’ve achieved what we set out to do and that was to win the league and promotion back to the Premiership.

“A couple of players left at the end of last season as they wanted to continue playing at the top level, something which we can’t begrudge them for.

“However, we’re delighted to repay the loyalty of quality players such as Andy Rose and Iain Moody , who stayed with us and believed that we could climb back up to the Premiership.”

In the East Regional leagues, all three winners have been decided. Preston Lodge, Dalkeith and St Boswells won East Regional League Division 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

Both Preston Lodge and St Boswells, are currently undefeated in East Regional League Division 1 and Three, yet both still have a game to play. Dalkeith, only recorded one loss to Forrester, in what was otherwise a clean sweep in East Regional League Division 2.

In the Caledonia Regional Leagues, Midlands 3 is the only competition to have an out-and-out winner, as Howe of Fife 2XV have wrapped up the title with a game still to play.

West Regional League Division 3 has been secured by Uddingston, who currently sit 12 points above the chasing pack with one round of fixtures left to play.

All other leagues are still in contention as we head into the closing stages of this season’s campaign, making for an exciting end to 2013/14.
