Young twins impress as Scottish Exiles move into HKFC Tens Cup

The East Hotels HK Scottish Exiles have moved into the HKFC Tens Cup competition after an impressive round of results today.

The team that consists of players from Scotland 7s and Hong Kong Scottish will now play Carinat Dragons tomorrow (27 March) at 1.35pm (Hong Kong time) and 5.35am (UK time).

The stars of the show that saw the side win two of three games were Lewis and Gregor Young.

The twins scored four tries apiece with Gregor scoring a hat trick in the first victory, 40-7 v Irish Vikings.  Lewis scored in all three games and converted 11 of the 12 tries.

Boroughmuir’s Iain Moody, who has travelled as part of the extended sevens squad featured in the starting line-up for all three games.  He carried well throughout the day, as well as competing confidently at the kick-offs and making a nuisance of himself at the breakdown.  This is Iain’s first trip with Scotland 7s.

The remaining results were a win v Hong Kong Lions, 35-5 and a hard-fought defeat to the group winners, Penguins, 7-26.  The Penguins were coached by Scotland under-20 head coach, Sean Lineen and had an appearance from former Edinburgh Rugby hooker, Andrew Kelly.

Also scoring for the Scottish Exiles today were Danny Kroll, who was a sparky attacker, Richard Lankshear (v Irish Vikings), Duncan Pollock and Ollie Robinson, former Scotland head coach, Andy Robinson's son, (v Hong Kong Lions).

To complete the Scottish contingent in the tournament, Samurai International who will also compete in tomorrow’s Cup competition saw Selkirk’s Fraser Harkness take the field.
