The penultimate round of the HSBC Sevens World Series comes to Glasgow’s Scotstoun Stadium this weekend (Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May) when Scotland will be facing 15 other international teams in the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s.
In the build-up to the event rugby fans across Scotland have been getting the chance to catch a glimpse of the coveted series trophy.
Travelling to Edinburgh, Hamilton and Stirling, the trophy has been accompanied by an HSBC Rugby Ambassador. On day one, HSBC Ambassador and former Scotland scrum-half, Mike Blair (pictured above) joined the tour and met with fans for photographs and signings.
The trophy tour continues tomorrow (Friday 2 May) with fellow Scotland scrum-half Rory Lawson heading to Glasgow’s Buchanan Street HSBC branch at 3-5pm.
The HSBC Sevens World Series is the pinnacle of international sevens rugby and a globally recognised sporting event featuring nine tournaments around the world. The Scottish round of the series returns to Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow this year and is the penultimate tournament of the Series.
HSBC Ambassador Mike Blair said: “This year’s HSBC Sevens World Series has been a very exciting competition with each round throwing up some surprising action.
" It’s an honour to accompany the HSBC Sevens World Series Trophy as it embarks on a tour of Scotland before the tournament kicks-off at Scotstoun. Scotland is the home of rugby Sevens and to have the world’s top professional sevens trophy back home is an amazing opportunity for fans to come and take a look at it.”
