Some exciting ties have been drawn for round one of the 2014/15 BT Cup with a series of local derbies emerging.
Scotland and Edinburgh Rugby winger, Dougie Fife, made the draw at BT Murrayfield Stadium where the BT Cup final will return in 2015.
Teams from BT National League 1, 2 and 3 will compete in round one of the knockout competition, which will be played on Saturday 30 August. BT Premiership teams will enter the fold further down-the-line.
Perhaps the closest geographical encounter is between Stewart’s Melville FP and RHC Cougars, with Howe of Fife v Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy v Dundee HSFP and Irvine v Marr following closely behind.
2014 RBS Shield Champions, Preston Lodge will welcome Ardrossan Academicals to Pennypit for their first tie.
Scottish Rugby’s head of clubs and schools, Nick Rennie, said: “Some exciting local derbies are the highlights of the first round of the 2014/15 BT Cup.
This is where the journey to BT Murrayfield Stadium begins and these games will form the basis of a thrilling start to the first weekend of the new season.”
