Less than 24 hours after announcing the signing of four new props, London Scottish have increased their roster for the forward pack next season.
Head coach James Buckland feels the signing of Rotherham Titans lock Josh Thomas Brown and imposing Exeter Chiefs back-rower James Phillips this week can help his team compete with the best sides in the Greene King IPA Championship next season.
"Josh went away to Rotherham and was one of their stand-out players,” Buckland said. "He has added some physicality to his already impressive skill-set and we are pleased to welcome back such a great character.”
Thomas Brown returns to the club after spending a year with the titans and will bring the brains as well as the brawn into next season’s campaign. The line out mechanic was influential in Rotherham’s play-off games and will be a vital cog in the London Scottish set piece. Brown represented Scotland at under-20 in 2008 where he won seven caps.
Philips also comes with a wealth of experience at Premiership level with the Chiefs. The search for more game time and a successful club has brought him to the Richmond outfit and he will surely be a considerable asset moving forward.
