Scotland 7s prop Roddy Grant, played his first sevens tournament in over four years last weekend (28-29 June) in Moscow as his side prepare for the fast-approaching Commonwealth Games.
For Grant there were a number of lessons to be learned as he realised how far the short game has come since he last played in the HSBC Sevens World Series, at BT Murrayfield in 2010, but the highlight of the weekend for Edinburgh Rugby's flanker was the honour to be back playing for Scotland.
He said: "The game has changed a great deal in the past four years and over the weekend it was important to get used to the running and support lines and how they differ to XVs.
"It was great to be back in a Thistle jersey and playing for Scotland again. Whatever level it is every national team you play for is special."
Scotland 7s will compete in Sevens and the City at Allianz Park in Hendon, North London on Saturday 12 July. This will be their last competitive tournament before they take to the field at Ibrox Stadium at the Commonwealth Games.
Scotland 7s squad to compete as part of Team Scotland, during Glasgow 2014, on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July at Ibrox Stadium: Richie Vernon, James Eddie (both Glasgow Warriors), James Johnstone (Scotland 7s), Roddy Grant (Edinburgh Rugby), Scott Riddell, Colin Shaw (both Scotland 7s), Lee Jones (Glasgow Warriors), Colin Gregor, Scott Wight (both Scotland 7s), Mark Bennett, Sean Lamont and Stuart Hogg (all Glasgow Warriors).
