IRB chief hails record-breaking Commonwealth crowd

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset, has hailed the rugby sevens event at Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014 this weekend (Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July), not only for the deluge of outstanding play on the pitch, yet also for the electric atmosphere off it.

The 171,000 fans who attended Ibrox Stadium, over the course of the weekend, set a new world and Commonwealth Games record for the highest attendance at a single rugby sevens event.
