Edinburgh Rugby duo Damien Hoyland (wing) and Alex Toolis (lock) will cross swords in the opening game of the BT Premiership at the Greenyards tomorrow (Saturday), as the domestic championship gets underway.
The duo have taken different routes to the capital club, but both show potential to make an impact on head coach Alan Solomons' senior selections in the season/s to come.
Hoyland [left], drafted to hosts Melrose - for whom he performed admirably last season - brings pace and dynamism to the wing, and is among the top prospects to come through the development pathway.
Toolis [right] - drafted to Edinburgh Accies - signed on at BT Murrayfield from Queensland based side Old Boys, and will be kept in good company throughout his time in the capital by twin brother Ben.
The 6ft 7 lock will hope to utilise his power and athleticism to advance through the ranks at Edinburgh Rugby.
Despite both players aiming to make waves as teammates one day, their story will continue as opponents at the Greenyards in the first encounter of the new BT Premiership season.
