Emirates Airline Rugby 7s sells out!Following the successful, world record-breaking rugby sevens event at Ibrox during last summer's Commonwealth Games, Scottish Rugby is delighted to confirm that next weekend's penultimate leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series will be packed with supports of the seven-a-side game.

Glasgow 2014 saw more than 170,000 people experience the fast-paced excitement of the short game and next weekend's tournament is the first international rugby event to be hosted in Glasgow since then.

"We're delighted to confirm that with more than seven days to go until the Emirates Airline Rugby 7s in Glasgow we have sold out the event,” said Dominic McKay, Scottish Rugby's Director of Commercial Operations Communications and Public Affairs.

He continued: "The Emirates Airline Rugby 7s is shaping up perfectly to be another fantastic party for all supporters.

We're proud to host the World Series which is regarded by players and officials as one of their favourite destinations on the global circuit.

"From everyone at Scottish Rugby and on behalf of the Scotland 7s team I'd like to thank our supporters for the magnificent take-up we have seen in recent weeks.”

Scotland 7s currently sit seventh in the HSBC Sevens World Series standings, with two events to go – Glasgow (9-10 May) and London (16-17 May).

If the team retain or better this position it will be their best ever finish on the circuit.

Scotland 7s play Portugal (1.04pm), Wales (4.10pm) and Fiji (7.21pm), in Pool C, on day one (Saturday 9 May) of the Emirates Airline Rugby 7s.
