WATCH: England 7s' Tom Mitchell and South Africa 7s' Kyle Brown preview Glasgow 7s

Scottish Rugby TV caught up with England 7s captain, Tom Mitchell, and South Africa skipper, Kyle Brown, ahead of this weekend’s Emirates Airline Rugby 7s at Scotstoun Stadium (Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May).

The captains attended a photo-call at the iconic Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and Scottish Rugby TV was on hand to gather their thoughts going into a packed weekend of fixtures.

England, who currently sit 4th in the HSBC World Series standings, will face France, Australia and Russia in Pool A, in the penultimate leg of the circuit.

Mitchell said: “It’s a short trip up to Glasgow for us, and it’s nice to be a bit closer to home.

“It’s a great tournament – the crowd are always there for a good time, and sometimes they give us a bit of a hard time, but it’s always in good spirits.”

Current World Series leaders, South Africa – who on their last trip to Glasgow won gold in the Commonwealth Games – face close rivals New Zealand, Samoa and Kenya in their Pool B ties.

Brown said:

“You couldn’t ask for better preparation going into day two of the tournament. It’s a heck of a pool with ourselves, New Zealand, and Kenya, there’s some pretty physical teams there.

“Everybody has got there different style of play and it’ll give an extremely exciting finish to the end of Saturday evening when we get our match [against New Zealand] done.”
