Valladolid blog: day 2, training intensifies

Having settled into home for the next ten days, and with two sessions under the belt, the squad were feeling fresh ahead of the second day of training. Scrum-half Sarah Law [pic below] outlines progress:

"The morning session began with the squad heading to a new venue in ‘Pista De Atletismo Rio Esguega’ at Universidad De Valladolio. Splitting into backs and forwards, we could work on strength and power in the weights room before fine-tuning our unit specific skills.

After a quick refuel at the hotel, the team headed back to Valladolid RAC for a high intensity contact and attack session. With the focus on maintaining a high intensity throughout, the session allowed us to further understand the new structures and incorporate them into game situations successfully.

All of the sessions so far have been challenging us to make good decisions under pressure helping to build towards the game against Spain later in the week.

After dinner, the emphasis is on personal development with each player reviewing the day's footage and identifying areas to work on in the next few days.

The pace will be slowed a bit tomorrow with it being the first rest day.  This will be our first opportunity to explore Valladolid and Salamanca, giving a chance to experience the culture and language on offer and hopefully add to our growing Spanish vocabulary."
