Narrow defeat for Scotland under-19s

The Scotland under-19 development squad conceded a last minute try to Japan National Schools at Meggetland this afternoon to go down 10-7.Hamish Bain celebrates his try

Scotland had led for the majority of the game, following an early try by Hamish Bain, which was converted by Josh Henderson.

Japan kicked a penalty through Yuta Shimotori after 10 minutes to reduce the deficit to 7-3 and that was how it stayed until the 69th minute when Japan scored.

Scotland missed a penalty right at the end of the first-half and with 10 minutes to go the home side came close to a second try, but Ewan Fox was stopped short of the line.

But with just a minute left on the clock Japan scored a converted try from a line-out to deny the Scots victory.

At the end of the game Scotland under-19 hooker Fraser Renwick was named man of the match.
