Dalziel rings the changes for England Test

There will be eight new faces in John Dalziel’s starting side to face hosts England in the second round of the World Rugby Under-20 Championship, at Manchester City Academy Stadium (kick-off 6pm) – live on Sky Sports.

In the backline, wings Cameron Gray and Robbie Nairn are included in the starting line-up, with the former making his first start for Scotland under-20 after debuting in the win over Australia.

Centre George Taylor, who scored a try in his last start for the side against Ireland, is the third change in the backline named to take on England.

In the forwards, five players have been drafted into the starting XV for round two, with props Dan Elkington and Callum Sheldon packing down at loosehead and tighthead prop respectively.

Lock Callum Hunter-Hill comes straight in to take a second-row berth, while Scott Burnside and Ally Miller are selected in the back-row.

Head Coach Dalziel said: “We’ve fielded another strong team to take on England, which is testament to the depth of talent we’ve got in the current squad.

“We’ve always considered the tight turnaround between the first two games, especially taking into account the physicality of both Australia and England, and we’re fortunate in that we’ve been able to bring in five players who started regularly in the Six Nations.

“As with England, we have fresh players entering the fray who will bring a different energy, and they’ll be looking to set down their markers as individuals in this competition.

“We were happy to open with a victory, but we are focused on continuing to improve throughout the tournament and build on our early momentum.

“England at home are always going to prove a tough test, but one we’ll be looking to relish in. It’s a huge occasion for all involved; playing the host nation at a sold-out stadium in the World Championship is the ultimate challenge for these players at this stage of their career.”

Alongside the new inclusions, Dalziel has made three positional changes, two of which are in the backs.

Ben Robbins moves from wing to full-back, joining Gray and Nairn in the back-three, while Blair Kinghorn moves up into the stand-off position to partner scrum-half Hugh Fraser.

In the pack, Jamie Ritchie moves from number eight to openside flanker alongside Miller and Burnside in the back-row.

Jake Kerr retains his spot at hooker, alongside Elkington and Sheldon in the front-row.

Scott Cummings continues as skipper and partners Hunter-Hill at lock.

On the bench, backs Matt McPhillips and Reuben Norville are set to make their debut for the senior age-grade if called-up from Dalziel.

Players not considered due to injury: Adam Hastings (concussion), Lewis Wynne (concussion)
