Myreside takes shape with one week to go

Edinburgh Rugby take on English Premiership side Harlequins in London on Saturday in round five of the European Rugby Challenge Cup. The teams are first and second in Pool 5 having each won three out of their four Pool games so far and know that only a win will do if they want to guarantee their place in the quarter-finals. The two sides served up a thriller at BT Murrayfield in Round 2 when a late Tom Brown score secured a 36-35 triumph for Edinburgh.

Edinburgh’s final European Challenge Cup Pool game – against Romanian side Timisoara Saracens – is of course the team’s first game at their new-look home, Myreside. The temporary stands are in place and tickets are selling quickly as supporters aim to welcome the club to its new home in style.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Gregor Townsend said this week that although he was delighted with his side’s bonus point victory over Cardiff Blues last weekend, he knew they will have to improve to win against Munster this Saturday in the crucial top-of-the-table European Rugby Champions Cup clash.

Scotstoun is already close to selling out for the game and Townsend is hoping for another atmosphere like the one against Cardiff. He said: "The Cardiff game was one of the best atmospheres ever.

When the crowd get behind us it's like a mixture of a NBA game and a football game. Combined with the brilliant sport that is Rugby, it’s great.”

Don’t forget the European Champions and Challenge Cup Finals are being played at BT Murrayfield, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 May. Tickets are on sale here
