BT Premiership ROUND-UP | Marr mount four try comeback to win at home

Glasgow Hawks travelled to Troon aiming to complete the double over Marr but failed to capitalise on their early promise and left empty handed.

Marr’s hopes of upsetting Hawks faltered in the first minute of the game as the visitors seized on an aimless kick and ran over for the opening score.

The visitors enjoyed the best of the opening quarter and looked to hurt Marr in open play.

A second try extended the lead to 3-15 in Hawks’ favour but a series of powerful driving mauls put Marr in position to hit back.

Five minutes before the break a Hawks yellow card five metres from their own line gave the home side a platform to attack.

Marr made the most of the man advantage with some more commanding forward play and created the space to get over the line and snatch the lead.

Half Time: Marr 17 - 15 Glasgow Hawks

The second period got off to a similarly explosive start but this time it was Marr who took their opportunity to score and had the home crowd in fine voice.

A physical contest followed as the weather continued to play its part – neither team able to make much headway between the rain and some scrappy play.

It was Marr who put the game beyond doubt however when, with five minutes remaining, they intercepted and had the pace to to beat the scrambling Hawks defence to the line.

The home team saw out the game with some staunch defence and ferocious tackling to record a valuable victory.
