BT Women’s Premier League PREVIEW | Cartha host Ayr in must-win match

Cartha Queen’s Park host Ayr this Sunday (14 January, kick-off 2pm) in the BT Women’s Premier League.

Cartha have a game in hand over their West Coast rivals and a win this weekend would be a huge boost to their league hopes.

Head Coach of Cartha Queen’s Park, Steven Meenagh, said: “We are really looking forward to the game against Ayr and we have a lot to play for.

“The game this weekend will have players giving there all in a fixture that is usually very close in score.

“Ayr are a good side and are really physical at the scrum, so we have been talking about how we can match that.

The girls are determined to perform in this game and show the quality they have. There is a real buzz at training.”

The teams have a win apiece in this fixture so far this season with Ayr coming out on top, 22-10, in the last match but Cartha taking the spoils, 4-15, in the earlier match.

Elsewhere, Stewartry will be aiming to close the gap on Watsonians when they host the Edinburgh side in the other bottom-half clash.

In the top half of the BT Premier League, leaders Hillhead/Jordanhill take on RHC Cougars and Murrayfield Wanderers receive a visit from Stirling County as they look to keep pressure on the table-toppers.
