BT Women’s Premier League PREVIEW | Cougars aim for reversal in fortunes against County

RHC Cougars travel for the second week in a row to Stirling County in the BT Women’s Premier League (Sunday 1 April, kick-off 2pm).

County got the better of the team from Edinburgh in last week’s Sarah Beaney Cup quarter-final, 29-19, so the visitors are well aware of the challenge they face.

Head Coach of RHC Cougars Eric Jones said: “The players are looking forward to playing against Stirling County again in our third trip to Bridgehaugh this season.

“With Stirling winning last Sunday by 10 points, the learning areas are still fresh in the players’ minds.”

Stirling County booked a spot in the top half of the table after the split for the first time this year alongside Cougars, Murrayfield Wanderers and champions Hillhead/Jordanhill.

RHC Cougars sit a point above County in the BT Women’s Premier League A standings and last week’s result is further proof of how close the two sides are.

A win on Sunday could see the Corstorphine team as much as six points clear and with two games remaining, including another match against Stirling County.

Jones added: “While we picked up a couple of knocks we welcome some players back into the fold who are raring to go.

“Over the past couple of months we’ve changed training up a little with a joint session with Lismore RFC and also running sessions alongside the Men’s Team at Corstorphine.

Bridgehaugh is always a tough place to go, however, we know what challenges Stirling present and we’ll be working on stopping those threats and playing to our strengths to get the win.”

The home team have also worked hard at training to give themselves a platform for consecutive wins.

Stirling County Coach Rob Storey said: "Back to back games always provide a different sort of challenge, but on the back of some excellent work at training we go into this fixture confident of our structures and hope for another win over strong opposition."
