BT Women’s Bowl Final PREVIEW | Garioch v Oban Lorne

Garioch play Oban Lorne as the Caledonia club look to improve on last year’s final appearance by taking home silverware.

Oban Lorne have recorded two convincing wins over Ardrossan and Howe of Fife to make it to BT Murrayfield while Garioch breezed past Orkney in the semi-finals after Kelso withdrew in the first round of the BT Women’s Bowl.

The Aberdeenshire side know they will have to be at their best if they are to go one step further this year and lift the trophy against a team that hasn’t lost in league competition all season.

Garioch Head Coach Mark Cowie said: “It means the world to the team to get back to BT Murrayfield for the second year running.

“There is so much energy around the team and everyone wants to do their part.

“We have made tweaks to our game plan which has shown to be effective in our last few games and we are excited to implement it against what seems to be a very well drilled side.”

Oban Lorne will be aiming to secure the title for the first time on Silver Saturday after winning the BT Women’s National League 2.

They have been peerless in league action having lost no games whatsoever and conceded only 12 points in 11 games. Their sole loss this season came in the opening round of the Sarah Beaney Cup to BT Women’s Plate finalists Glasgow University but have come back strongly to reach BT Murrayfield.

Oban Lorne Head Coach Corrie Louw said: “We are keeping focus on what we as a team need to do.

“We have been a successful team this year and to make it this far is great.

“We as a team have briefed what it would take and we committed to the sweat, blood, tears and sacrifices over the last few months and it’s worth it to make it to BT Cup Finals Day.”

Garioch v Oban Lorne will kick-off at 11am on the back pitches at BT Murrayfield.
