Glasgow and Caledonia claim victory at BT Murrayfield

Glasgow and Caledonia both claimed replica 19-5 victories over Edinburgh and The Borders respectively, in last night’s (Wednesday 7 January) BT Sport Academy under-16 inter-district fixtures, played on the back-pitches at BT Murrayfield.

Glasgow crossed the line three times in the inter-city derby through prop Paul Cairncross, number eight Andrew Simpson and centre Andrew Jardine. Ayr stand-off Matt Davidson successfully converted two of the tries.

Edinburgh replacement Ross Thomson dotted down to score his team’s only points of the night.

Duplicating Glasgow’s scoring efforts, Caledonia crossed the line three times. Stand-off Grant Hughes grabbed a try, along with lock Cameron Blakemore and centre Andrew McLean. Hughes also added four points, slotting two conversions.

The Borders blindside flanker, Kieran Slingsby, was his team’s sole point-scorer, as he crossed the whitewash to tally five points.
