John Houston joined Scotland 7s, full-time, prior to the 2013 Emirate Airline Glasgow 7s, and brought with him a wealth of experience both in 15-a-side and seven-a-side rugby.
He was a member of the Scotland 7s squad that competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and was in the teams who reached the two Cup semi-finals in the HSBC Sevens World Series in 2009 and the Edinburgh 7s Plate winning side in 2010.
He made his international sevens debut at the IRB GMF Paris Sevens in June 2005 and retired at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season following a persistent neck injury.
A product of the Hawick club he has won 11 caps for Scotland A in the 15-a-side arena and was a professional player with Edinburgh Rugby for five and a half years. He made his debut with the capital side in 2008 v Ulster and went onto make 88 appearances, 64 starts, and scored five tries.
Away from rugby, Houston enjoys reading and fly-fishing, is studying construction project management and has coached the backs at Heriot’s.
