Damien Hoyland

Hoyland developed a reputation for his outstanding pace while playing for Boroughmuir and burst onto the age-grade international scene in the 2013 6 Nations with two tries - including a memorable intercept - in the under-20's win over Ireland at Netherdale.
 
The James Gillespie's HS former pupil represented Scotland under-17 as well as Edinburgh at under-16, 17 and 18 levels.  He was part of the Scotland under-17 7s team which took part in the Youth Commonwealth Games on the Isle of Man in 2011 and was a member of the rugby academy at Edinburgh College where he studied for an HNC in Rugby Performance & Sports Coaching.

He is a member of Scottish Rugby's regional academy, supported by sportscotland Institute of Sport and scored a try in Melrose's win over Currie in March 2014 which secured the club the RBS Premiership title. Damien will join Edinburgh Rugby on a pro player contract at the start of season 2014/15.
