Lauren Harris

A former pupil of Denholm PS and Jedburgh Grammar School, Banff-born Lauren Harris went on to attend Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen where she studied physiotherapy and played for Melrose.

Top try scorer for Aberdeenshire Quines in 2009/10, she also represented Scotland in the Home Nations University 7s championship and was in the GB University 7s team at the World University Championships in Portugal in summer 2009.

She made her Scotland debut against Spain in the January 2011 friendly in Madrid. Her first try for Scotland came against Ireland in the 2011 Six Nations and in the November 2011 victory over the Netherlands, she scored a brace of tries in the 33-10 win in Amsterdam. Her fourth score came against Italy in the 2012 RBS 6 Nations.

Lauren played in all four tournaments during the debut Scotland Women 7s season in 2012 scoring five tries at Rugby Rocks London, six tries at the FIRA-AER European qualifier in Ghent and one at the FIRA WRWC qualifier in Moscow. She participated, alongside other Scotland Women 7s team members, at the Tobago 7s in 2012 and not only was a member of the winning team but was also voted Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

She then took time out to travel to the southern hemisphere, working in Australia and New Zealand, playing rugby for the Tribe 7s in the former and in the regional NPC in the latter for Wellington, where she played at Westpac Stadium and Eden Park. She is currently a locum physiotherapist south of the border.

Aside from rugby, Lauren has represented Scottish Borders in football, South of Scotland in hockey and won medals at the Scottish University Indoor and Outdooor Athletics championships in 2008 and 2009.
