Byron McGuigan

Sale Sharks wing Byron McGuigan signed for Glasgow Warriors after impressing for Scotland 7s in the 2011/12 HSBC Sevens World Series, where he weighed in with five tries in his first two tournaments.

During his time in the west of Scotland McGuigan also earned one Scotland A cap in 2014, scoring in the side’s 16-16 draw with England Saxons at Scotstoun.

He moved from Glasgow to Exeter Chiefs in November 2014, making 18 appearances in all competitions, before joining the Sharks on a two-year deal in the summer of 2016.

He scored six tries in 20 appearances in his debut season, a tally he equalled by October the following year, before earning his first call-up to the senior Scotland squad for the 2017 Autumn Tests, putting in a memorable brace scoring, man-of-the-match securing performance on his first start agaist Australia in the final test.

His impressive performance in the Autumn awarded Byron his 6 Nations debut with a start in Scotland's opening game of their campaign in Cardiff, however a injury sustained after that match ruled him out the following two games and he struggled to back to form in time for another appearance.

Born in Namibia, he qualifies for Scotland courtesy of his Glaswegian mother, Carol.
