Chris Harris

Carlisle-born Chris Harris first earned selection with the senior Scotland squad for the 2017 Autumn Test after a string of impressive performances for Newcastle Falcons.

He moved to Newcastle aged 18 to study Architecture at Northumbria University, where he combined his study with rugby for both the Falcons Academy and National League One side Tynedale RFC.

After completing his degree in 2013 Harris joined up with the England Counties squad for a tour of Belgium before returning to Kingston Park to begin his first full-time season with the Falcons, continuing to represent Tynedale on dual registration.

Having been one of the stand-out performers in the Falcons’ 2014 Premiership Rugby 7s squad and scoring a try apiece in each of the club’s three group D victories, Harris began the subsequent season dual registered with Championship side Rotherham Titans.

After an impressive stint in Yorkshire the fast and skillful centre/wing was recalled to Newcastle in time for the opening rounds of the European competition and continued to impress, going on to score a brace of tries in his Premiership debut at home to Saracens in December 2014.

A further three tries in his subsequent two league appearances, including an Aviva Premiership Try of the Week away to Northampton, ensured that Harris continued to turn heads and led to him being crowned Academy Player of the Season at the club’s end-of-season awards.

His progression as a player continued in 2015-16 with regular senior rugby, bouncing back from injury during the 2016-17 campaign with a strong second half of the season.
