MESSAGE FROM SWRU CHAIRPERSON

On behalf of the Board of the SWRU I am pleased to support and endorse Scottish Women's Rugby's application for the Foundation Level of the Equity Standard and our joint application with the SRU for the preliminary level.

Rugby Union is a game for everyone and it is important that we emphasise that message, reflecting our country's rich diversity.

We wish to play our full part in helping Scotland become a fairer place in which the equality of opportunity for all, regardless of their background or circumstances.

One of the priorities for the SWRU is to work with the SRU to provide the opportunity to experience this great sport to all parts of the community, especially those groups who in the past have neither embraced our sport nor felt it has offered them a welcome.

We are determined to take rugby to all parts of the country, into all cultures and social groups to make rugby a truly national sport open to all residents in Scotland.

WHY DO WE NEED TO AFFILIATE TO THE SWRU?

The SWRU regulates and runs all competition and provides support to its member clubs and players through its staffing team and partnership with the SRU. In order to participate in any SWRU programme or competition or access any support including the SRU Travel Scheme and the club Accident and Insurance Scheme, clubs must affilate.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Senior teams in Premier League & National League £85
Senior teams in NDL/Friendly only teams/second teams £50
Youth teams/Schools (includes Thistle Trust Affiliation) £20

WHY DO WE NEED TO INSURE OUR CLUB?

The Club Accident insurance scheme ensures that players are covered against serious injury or death and the club, coaches and match officials are covered for public liability. An option exists for Clubs to take out additional cover in relation to loss of earnings arising from rugby injuries.

WHAT DOES THE SWRU EXECUTIVE BOARD DO?

The SWRU Executive Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the women’s game in Scotland, including domestic competition, international competition, talent I.D and player development, Youth recruitment and club support. The Board oversees budgets and expenditure and the governance of the women’s game.

How can I join the SWRU Executive Board?
