​Royal Bank RugbyForce returns for 2021, continuing to provide clubs with the expertise and tools they need to help plan their return to rugby by making the most of their facilities on and off the pitch.

This year, as part of RugbyForce, we are also excited to launch the new Royal Bank Young Ambassador programme for under 35s, designed to help educate, build and strengthen the next generation of leaders and volunteers at rugby clubs across your communities.

Royal Bank RugbyForce will be following The Scottish Government’s COVID guidance in relation to the running of physical events. This may mean that RugbyForce events can only take place at locations within permitted tiers and with social distancing guidelines in place. Events may need to be cancelled at very short notice dependent on the evolving restrictions in your area. This will not affect successful Royal Bank RugbyForce grants being awarded.

The new 2021 Royal Bank RugbyForce toolkit, created by Royal Bank of Scotland, will be arriving in August 2021 to help your club with a range of practical resources, templates, ideas and advice to help your club.

However, for now, the 2020 toolkit has a lot of what you might need to keep your club going during these tough times including a host of tips to help you navigate the impact of coronavirus, how to build effective budgets and how to make the most of sponsorships.

Royal Bank Young Ambassador Programme

We are launching an ambitious young ambassador programme, with an enhanced offering for a select 10 Young Ambassadors, for all 18-35s across the country who wish to become the next generation of leaders of their rugby clubs, Along with Scottish Rugby and local clubs we want to drive positive change at grassroots level, empowering under 35-year-olds to take on responsible committee positions, taking part in executive decisions at their clubs We will provide them with relevant support, engagement, and training to help their clubs survive and thrive, despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic.

Royal Bank Young Ambassador Programme Benefits

As part of this year’s RugbyForce programme, Royal Bank will help educate Young Ambassadors to support the future of their local rugby clubs. Young ambassadors will receive digital support and virtual mentoring to aid their development and help further their club’s progress.

They will have access to webinars with the Scottish Rugby development team and Royal Bank expertise which will help them get involved and improve the running of their club.

  • All Young Ambassadors will receive:
    • Access to 2 bespoke webinars
    • Digital toolkits on sponsorship, finance and social media support
    • Virtual Coffee Morning with other Young Ambassadors hosted by a Scottish Rugby representative

A select group of 10 of successful Young Ambassadors will also be given a £500 grant to put the knowledge learnt from the programme into action at their club. For instance, they could learn how to increase their club membership by harnessing the power of social media marketing to bring in new members, or leverage sponsorship revenue streams, or they could understand the power of events to fundraise for their club.

Our sponsorship, fundraising and finance tips will help them prepare to take on a variety of roles including future treasurer, president, club secretary, fundraising manager and social media executive. They will also benefit from exclusive experiences e.g.at BT Murrayfield, joining webinars with Scottish Rugby players and potentially even on pitch experiences (when government guidance allows).

  • Select 10 - Young Ambassadors will also receive:

    Terms and Conditions

    1. Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 is open to Scottish Rugby Union member clubs and their members, employees, and agents of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group of companies and their family members. All rugby clubs which register for Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 must be affiliated with the Scottish Rugby Union. This incentive is not open to University and College rugby clubs.

    2. The Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 event will officially take place on 7th and 8th August 2021. Royal Bank RugbyForce will be following The Scottish Government’s COVID guidance in relation to the running of physical events. This may mean that RugbyForce events can only take place at locations within permitted tiers and with social distancing guidelines in place. Events may need to be cancelled at very short notice dependent on the evolving restrictions in your area. Events also may be cancelled or altered at short notice due to the availability of Scotland players. This will not affect successful Royal Bank RugbyForce grants being awarded.

    3. All rugby clubs that register for Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 must be affiliated to Scottish Rugby.

    4. Registration for Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 is open from Tuesday 9th March until 11:59pm on 31st May 2021. Clubs must be registered for Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 to be eligible to receive the incentives.

    5. One registration is permitted per club. Clubs may wish to apply for men’s, women’s and minis sections, however, if this is the case, clubs will be asked to pick which application they would like to submit for judging. Registrations are not returnable or updateable. Registrations must be submitted via the online submission form found on the Scottish Rugby website at https://www.scottishrugby.org/clubs-and-schools/support-for-clubs/rugbyforce. They, and the copyright in them, become the property of the Promoter and Scottish Rugby.

    6. Registrations not submitted in accordance with these rules, delayed, damaged, incomplete, altered or illegible will not be accepted. No responsibility is accepted for delayed registrations. Proof of sending by email or post will not be accepted as proof of registration. Proof of upload to website will not be accepted as proof of entry.

    5. Decisions regarding grants will be made by 25th June 2021 and clubs will be notified of their grant by email and/or phone within seven working days.

    6. The judges' decisions are final; no correspondence will be entered into.

    7. Grants will be paid by BACs payment at least two weeks before Royal Bank RugbyForce weekend, subject to clubs providing bank details in a prompt and timely manner.

    8. The clubs receiving grants will be selected by a national panel consisting of:

    1. Representatives from the Royal Bank Sponsorship team

    2. Representatives from Scottish Rugby

    3. A representative from Royal Bank’s sponsorship agency

    9. The grants will be allocated to those clubs who, in the opinion of the judges, write the most appropriate and suitable responses to the registration questions.

    10. The clubs receiving grants will be those clubs who, in the opinion of the judges: a. Benefit the most from the support package b. Will be most engaged with the programme.

    11. All registered clubs agree to take part in publicity in connection with Royal Bank RugbyForce and also agree to invest all funds and/or resources allocated to their rugby club by the Royal Bank of Scotland plc for the purposes of Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021, into their club's Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 weekend event and/or to support the sustainability of the club. Royal Bank RugbyForce will be following The Scottish Government’s COVID guidance in relation to the running of physical events. This may mean that RugbyForce events can only take place at locations within permitted tiers and with social distancing guidelines in place. Events may need to be cancelled at very short notice dependent on the evolving restrictions in your area. This will not affect successful Royal Bank RugbyForce grants being awarded.

    12. Royal Bank of Scotland plc reserve the right to recall grants from clubs that do not invest the allocated grant in their Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 weekend event or to support the sustainability of the club.

    13. All applicants and participants that register for the Royal Bank RugbyForce weekend agree that their personal data may be processed by the Promoter and Scottish Rugby for the purposes of this promotion.

    14. By taking part all clubs agree to complete a post-event survey to feedback on the Royal Bank RugbyForce 2021 weekend event at their club.

    15. If any support package is unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made to contact the club, the Promoter and Scottish Rugby will be entitled to dispose of the support package as it sees fit without any liability to the club for having done so.

    16. The Promoter and Scottish Rugby reserves the right to alter, amend or foreclose the promotion without prior notice.

    3. Applications for the Royal Bank 2021 Young Ambassador Programme open from Tuesday 9th March until 11:59pm on 31st May 2021. Individuals must be registered to be eligible to receive any incentives.

    4. There can be more than one Young Ambassador application per club, although it is unlikely that there will be more than one applicant selected from the same rugby club. Applications are not returnable or updateable.
